The exploratory well, known as Bobi Deep-1, has begun producing 2,000 barrels of oil and 1.1 million cubic feet of gas each day from a geological formation called the Massive Sand interval within the Lower Goru Formation. The discovery was confirmed through advanced testing procedures and represents the first successful extraction from this particular geological play in the Bobi and Dhamraki Mining Lease area.<\/p>\n

Financial analysts have taken note. Arif Habib Limited estimates that the new discovery could add approximately Rs1.67 per share annually to OGDC’s earnings. OGDC operates the well and holds full working interest in the project, meaning all benefits flow directly to the national company and, by extension, to Pakistan’s economy.<\/p>\n

The discovery also highlights the value of investing in local technical capacity. By relying on homegrown expertise and fostering collaboration between industry and academia, Pakistan demonstrated that it can tackle complex energy challenges without depending entirely on foreign consultants or technology.<\/p>\n

As Pakistan continues to grapple with energy shortages, rising import bills, and the need for sustainable economic growth, discoveries like Bobi Deep-1 offer a tangible path forward.
