Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has thanked the government and people of Pakistan for expressing solidarity with Iran amid the ongoing aggression by the United States and Israel. In a statement posted on social media platform X in Urdu, Araghchi said that Iran remains steadfast in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity, placing complete trust in Allah Almighty. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for strongly demonstrating solidarity and support with the people and government of Iran in the face of the ongoing tensions. The statement comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28, with Tehran retaliating by targeting US bases across the Gulf region, including Saudi Arabia, with missiles and drones. Pakistan has maintained a cautious but supportive stance amid the US-Israel-Iran conflict, calling for restraint and dialogue while avoiding direct military involvement. Islamabad has expressed solidarity with Iran, with officials and public figures highlighting the historical, cultural, and economic ties between the two countries. Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah said Pakistan’s leadership is in close contact with Muslim countries regarding the evolving regional situation, and that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and also visited Saudi Arabia as part of diplomatic engagements. Pakistan has offered to facilitate talks between Tehran and Washington to end violence, expressing support for Iran’s right to harness nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. With the US-Israeli war on Iran creating turmoil across the Middle East and shaking up global energy markets, Pakistan’s diplomatic role has been crucial in maintaining regional stability and preventing further disruption to energy supplies and trade through the Gulf.
