Apple’s newly introduced MacBook Neo is expected to become a major success for the company and could be one of its most important laptop releases in recent years. The device stands out not only for its relatively affordable starting price of $599 (or $499 for students) but also for its repair-friendly internal design.
A teardown by YouTuber Phone Repair Guru has revealed that the MacBook Neo is significantly easier to repair than many modern laptops.
According to the teardown, Apple designed the MacBook Neo with components that are easier to remove and replace. Parts such as the battery, speakers, trackpad, USB ports, and display are secured with screws and connectors instead of adhesive.
Most modern laptops rely heavily on strong adhesives to hold internal parts in place and often include soldered ports, making repairs more difficult. In contrast, the Neo’s design appears to make servicing simpler.
The teardown also highlights the MacBook Neo’s compact motherboard, which houses key components including the A18 Pro processor, DRAM, and NAND storage.
These internal components are soldered to the motherboard, which is typical for most modern laptops.
Despite that limitation, the overall internal layout suggests Apple has taken steps toward making the MacBook Neo easier to repair than many of its recent devices.
