Suzuki Pakistan has shared the design philosophy behind its upcoming SUV, the Fronx.
In the latest video, posted on official social media, lead exterior designer Masahiro Kato discusses how the Suzuki shaped the Fronx’s exterior and the concept behind its overall look.
Kato said the Suzuki wanted to create something that looked different from both rival models and Suzuki’s earlier vehicles.
“When considering the design concept, the design team discussed how to express the strength of an SUV while also adding some new element,” he said.
According to Kato, the team noticed that coupe-style SUVs were becoming more common in Europe and expected the trend to grow in other markets as well.
That is why the Fronx combines the stance of an SUV with a sloping roofline, giving it what Suzuki calls a “dynamic coupe-style SUV” shape.
This can be seen most clearly in the side profile, where the long roofline extends into a rear spoiler and ends with a sharply angled rear windscreen.
He also added that to further emphasize its planted, muscular stance, the cabin is visibly narrowed at the rear, drawing the eye to the Fronx’s wider lower body.
Challenges in the Fronx’s Design
Kato also pointed to the wheel arches as one of the more difficult parts of the design.
The Fronx uses what Suzuki calls “double fenders”, where a standard fender flare is paired with another character line above it to give the body more volume.
“During the transition from sketch to modeling, this form was very difficult to realize, and we refined it repeatedly through trial and error using clay models,” Kato said.
The SUV also gets wheels with a stepped outer edge on the machined surface, which Kato said is a first for Suzuki.
When it came to turning the design into a production model, Kato said the team had to balance styling with aerodynamics. He explained that focusing too much on design can increase air resistance and reduce fuel efficiency.

To avoid that, the team carried out repeated testing with clay models and made fine adjustments to reduce drag without losing the intended look.
The roof-end spoiler was one of the hardest parts to finalize, as its length and angle had to be adjusted several times to balance airflow and appearance.
The Fronx is also set to launch in Pakistan in May 2026, with bookings expected to open the same month.
The vehicle was first displayed in Pakistan at the PAPS (Pakistan Auto Parts Show) in November 2025. After that, Suzuki confirmed that the Fronx would be introduced in the local market.

When launched, the Fronx will be Pak Suzuki’s biggest and most feature-packed locally assembled vehicle yet.
Suzuki has previously sold the Vitara in Pakistan, but that model was imported, not locally assembled. The Fronx will also be Pak Suzuki’s first mild-hybrid vehicle in Pakistan.
In Pakistan, the Fronx will go up against:
However, Fronx has an advantage in its mild-hybrid technology, which assists the petrol engine during acceleration, improving fuel efficiency.
On the buyer’s side, it is likely to target consumers looking for an entry-level subcompact SUV or those who are stepping up from a sedan, especially in a market where crossovers are steadily eating into traditional sedan sales.
