The Punjab Mass Transit Authority has increased fares for the metro bus services operating in major cities of Punjab by 33 percent, raising the cost of travel for daily commuters.
According to officials, the revised fares will come into effect from March 26, 2026. The authority has increased fares by Rs 10 across all Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines, including the Lahore Metrobus.
Under the new fare structure, passengers using the Red Metro Bus services in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan will now pay Rs40 per trip.
Authorities said the decision was taken due to rising operational costs and the need to maintain the quality of transport services.
However, the authority has announced relief for commuters using the Green Transport Card, allowing them to travel for Rs25 per trip, which provides a Rs15 discount on the new fare.
Officials expect the fare increase to place additional financial pressure on regular commuters, but said the discounted card aims to ease the burden for frequent passengers.
