Vivo’s upcoming X300 Ultra is expected to introduce several upgrades over its predecessor. While much of the attention has focused on its camera improvements, the company has now revealed that the device will also bring notable changes to audio recording and playback.

Vivo executive Han Boxiao shared new details on Weibo, highlighting enhancements to both sound capture and speaker performance.

According to Boxiao, the X300 Ultra will use four microphones that work together to improve audio recording. The system combines spatial recording, noise reduction, and AI processing to isolate voices and enhance captured sound.

A screenshot from the phone’s camera application shows additional recording controls. Users will be able to adjust audio direction, choosing whether the recording focuses on sound coming from the front or back of the device.

The interface also includes adjustable noise reduction ranging from 0 to 100 percent, as well as gain control from minus 100 to plus 100, features typically found in more advanced recording tools.

The X300 Ultra will also include changes to its speaker design. According to the company, the top speaker will be significantly larger than previous versions.

The speaker cavity will measure around 0.8cc, nearly three times larger than typical smartphone speaker cavities, which usually range between 0.3cc and 0.5cc.

To accommodate this larger speaker system, vivo redesigned the upper right section of the phone to serve as a dedicated speaker enclosure. The company also moved the speaker cavity cover to the device’s bracket and said the design has been patented.

Amplifier and Sound Improvements

vivo has also increased the amplifier power by about 20 percent.

According to Boxiao, these changes result in roughly a 4dB improvement in lower frequencies around 300Hz, which could enhance bass performance. The high frequency response is also said to extend by about 3kHz, potentially increasing the upper range from around 17kHz to 20kHz.

While the technical improvements appear notable on paper, the real impact will become clearer once the device is tested after launch.
